If you have to shed a few pounds, this is the machine for you. Not only does this piece of cardio equipment burn calories, but it also strengthens each major muscle group except for the pecs.

This is one piece of gear that shouldn’t be placed in the corner. Not familiar with the name? Having a versa climber, you stand vertical and you also use your arms and legs to simulate scaling. It is a total-body exercise because you have to use your body to pull against gravity.

The great part about it is that it is functional, a bit difficult at times and will allow you to burn off more calories than an elliptical or treadmill any day, as long as you put in the work.

The Cable Machine

The cable machine is one of the most overlooked pieces of gear at the fitness center because exercisers often don’t understand how to utilize it. All they should learn is how to set the cables and they can do a full-body workout working on this machine alone. If you want to develop great abs and burn off love handles, use this machine to do wood-chop exercises”

Away from wood chops, you can do chest presses, lat pull downs, rows, squats, military presses and deadlifts using cables. Unsure how to get started? Ask a trainer at your gym to show you the principles.

Also called skiers or cross-country Trainers, ski machines can burn off 400 to 600 calories an hour, generally based upon your degree of effort.

These machines operate both the upper and lower body, while keeping your body aligned the ideal way for the best results.
